Tank Certifications

Northern Steel is an industry leader with respect to storage tank approvals and certifications, not only within Canada but the United States as well. Not only do our products meet all local codes and guidelines, such as the National Fire Code, CSA, G-55 and CCME, but are tested and labeled to standards such as ULC, UL, API and Transport Canada.

In order to receive these approvals from the certifying agencies, Northern Steel was required to meet or exceed all the requirements of each code as far as material specifications, and all of the testing requirements. Each product guideline or code requires a separate testing of each product manufactured.

Not only have we met all of these requirements, but are constantly adding new products and listings to our overall product list. This is not only a result of internal product development, but is also driven by our commitment to our customers and their needs.

Below is a table of Northern Steel's current product listings and certifications. *see note 2.

Notes:

  1. The fiberglass jacketed underground storage tank is currently being used by such companies as Canada Safeway and Westfair Properties (Superstore). The ease of installation due to the structural integrity of steel as the primary tank and the ability to use backfill material other than pea rock has been both physically and economically advantages. Also due to the additives that may be added to fuels, the steel tank allows for greater product flexibility in storage.
  2. Northern Steel over the past 5 years have built and labeled approximately 2,500 to 3,000 tanks to the above approved listings, making us Canada's leader in the ULC marketplace.
